The Hong Kong Sixes 2024 is set to make a highly anticipated return after a seven-year hiatus, bringing back the thrill of the unique six-a-side format. This year’s tournament is especially notable, with the Indian team participating for the first time in 12 years, led by former international and T20 World champion, Robin Uthappa. The event will be held from November 1 to November 3, 2024, at the Tin Kwong Road Cricket Ground in Kowloon, Hong Kong. South Africa is the defending champions having won the 2017 edition of the HKG Sixes.
Groups and Format
The tournament features 12 teams divided into four pools, each containing three teams, setting the stage for a competitive round-robin format.
- Pool A: South Africa, New Zealand, Hong Kong
- Pool B: Australia, England, Nepal
- Pool C: India, Pakistan, UAE
- Pool D: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman
After the round-robin stage, the top two teams from each group will play in the Cup finals round, while all third-placed teams will compete in the Bowl League finals.
Cup Finals
The top two teams from all groups will play in the Cup finals quarterfinal rounds, where the winners will qualify for the semifinals. The four quarterfinal losers will compete in the Plate semifinals.
Plate Finals
The four quarterfinal losers will play two semifinals:
- Semifinal 1: QF Loser 1 vs. QF Loser 2
- Semifinal 2: QF Loser 3 vs. QF Loser 4
The winners of these semifinals will advance to the Plate finals.
Bowl League Finals
All three third-placed teams will compete in a round-robin format, with only the top two teams qualifying for the Bowl final.
